It's a scene I've seen too often.

A close friend, bright and active, suddenly stopped by pain. Her first, almost automatic, reflex? To open her bag and look for a chemical painkiller. A radical, immediate solution, but one that feels more like a "silencer" imposed on her body than true care.

Watching her, I understood one thing: we have been conditioned to see pain as an enemy to be silenced by all means , so that we can continue to "perform," to be efficient, to show no weakness.

LOEN was born out of refusal.

The refusal to see women depend on heavy chemical solutions for cycles that are a part of their nature. The refusal of loud and infantilizing marketing that has no understanding of your daily life.

For too long, we were told "it's normal." That suffering was part of the deal. We were offered two options: endure in silence with a hot water bottle that immobilizes us, or mask the problem with drugs that cloud our minds and tire our bodies.

At LOEN, we reject this compromise.
